Transcript: 535 Mansfield Chief of Policenorth eastern district Mansfield station 25.10.78sir, I have the honor to report that about 4 pm yesterday const McIntyre who was sent out with sergeant Kennedy & const scanlon Lonigan & in search of the Kellys & arrived here & reported that the party had all been stuck up see constable McIntyres report annexed. I succeeded in a short time in getting together some volunteers to go in search & together with Const allwood & McIntyre the latter although very ill & weak consented to go I also engaged Dr Reynolds to accompany the party we started at about 6 pm, & arrived at monks sawmill at 8.30 14 miles from mansfield and Mr Monk immediately consented to guide us to where the affray took place and I engaged two of his men to accompany
