Transcript: Police Department [Const Arthur Removal from Force recommended] Police Department, CHIEF COMMISSIONERS OFFICE 4.7.82 The Glenrowan affair took place 28 June 1880 and M, C Arthur sent us no report in reference to what took place then until 17 May 1881 when he sent in a report containing the following statements  Sergt Steele on his arrival at Glenrowan went to a tree about 25 yards from Jones Hotel Shortly after a woman came out carrying a child in her arms Sergt. Steele called out hold up your arms or I will shoot you like a dog. She held up her arms and screamed Sergt Steele then fired at her She then turned to go away he fired She screamed shoot at her I called out that is a woman if you fire at her again Ill shoot you  A reference then evidence taken before Ser Steele ? will show what truth there is in these statements Page 145 Const. Causey says a woman rushed out screaming I heard Steele say run on quickly and you will not be molested two shots were fired a few seconds afterwards
